Scientific Project Manager

Starting date: Autumn 2022.

You will endeavour solutions for the current challenges of sustainable animal health and livestock production: epidemic threats, climate change, food security, environmental impact and drug resistance. You will do so by contributing to Kreavet’s contract research, project management and training services to public and private organisations. In particular, you will contribute to and further develop Kreavet’s activities to DISCONTOOLS and the secretariat of the STAR-IDAZ International Research Consortium of animal health. You will work in a small team of a young and dynamic company based near Antwerp, work with international experts and travel frequently abroad.

Kreavet was founded in 2017 to support companies, research/public institutions and professional organisations to meet today’s challenges in the field of animal health and sustainable livestock farming. Kreavet helps its clients to deliver, implement and disseminate their solutions faster by services in the field of Research & Development, Strategic collaborations and Training. It offers specific expertise in the fields of strategic collaboration, veterinary parasitology, epidemiology and socio-economics of animal health.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You develop research gap analysis documents for various infectious diseases of animals and cross-cutting topics
  • You organise, participate in and/or chair expert group meetings on animal diseases.
  • You draft and amend minutes of the meetings
  • You produce scientific and project reports.
  • You upload new documents on the DISCONTOOLS website and develop further extensions.
  • You maintain and develop STAR-IDAZ research road maps.
  • You collect and visualize ongoing research projects in the international domain.
  • You are involved in other Kreavet’s research and project management activities.
  • You contribute to the day-to-day management including administration as well as longer-term strategy of Kreavet.
  • You are available to travel and represent Kreavet’s projects or the company in international meetings.
  • You stay up-to-date with recent developments in your scientific field.

Desired skills and experience

  • PhD in veterinary/biological/biomedical sciences or a few years of previous expertise in project management (application, reporting in collaborative (EU) research projects).
  • Background in either virology/bacteriology/parasitology of domestic animals
  • Proven experience with project management, project writing and scientific reporting.
  • You are a good data and information manager that keeps oversight.
  • You are able to process a large amount of information in a short time.
  • A relevant national and international network including partners from public and private sectors is a plus.
  • Pro-active communicator and good presenting skills.
  • Can manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Team-player, but capable of working independently and from home.
  • You are flexible and able to quickly shift priorities.
  • You speak and write fluently English. Other languages are an asset.
