Veterinary Epidemiologist (part-time/full-time)

Starting date: 2023.

You will endeavour solutions for the current challenges of sustainable animal health and livestock production: epidemic threats, climate change, food security, environmental impact and drug resistance. You will do so by contributing to Kreavet’s contract research, project management and training services to public and private organisations. In particular, you will contribute to data-analysis, disease modelling and software development activities. You will work in a small team of a young and dynamic company based near Antwerp and work in collaborative projects with international experts in the field.

Kreavet helps its clients to deliver, implement and disseminate their solutions by services in the field of Research & Development, Strategic collaborations and Training. It offers specific expertise in the fields of veterinary parasitology, epidemiology and socio-economics of animal health.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You conduct (systematic) literature reviews and meta-analyses.
  • You develop/extend/test/implement disease transmission models.
  • You perform statistical analysis on various data from epidemiological surveys and clinical trials.
  • You are involved in other Kreavet’s research and project management activities.
  • You contribute to the day-to-day management including administration as well as longer-term strategy of Kreavet.
  • You are available to travel and represent Kreavet’s projects in international meetings.
  • You stay up-to-date with recent developments in your scientific field.

Desired skills and experience

  • PhD in veterinary/biological/biomedical/bio-engineering sciences or proven similar experience in the domains above. Junior candidates (no PhD) with min. 2 years experience may also apply.
  • Background/training in veterinary epidemiology.
  • Background in economics of animal health is an asset.
  • Proven experience with scientific reporting and grant writing.
  • Good presenting skills.
  • Can manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Team-player, but capable of working independently and from home.
  • You are flexible and able to quickly shift priorities.
  • You speak and write fluently English. Other languages are an asset.
