Kreavet had the privilege of being invited to the launch of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) African Network (WAAVP-AN) in Cotonou, Benin on June 26-27, 2024. The event was graced by the presence of Benin's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, who officially launched WAAVP-AN. We were also honoured to have representatives from the FAO and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, alongside a gathering of esteemed experts in parasitology and passionate students. Our presentation on #DISCONTOOLS, a valuable database addressing current knowledge and research gaps in animal diseases including many parasitic diseases received positive feedback from both experts and students, highlighting its impact in advancing our understanding and management of parasitic diseases.
We also presented STAR-IDAZ International Research Consortium on Animal Health, its Working Groups, Regional Networks and activities in research priority setting.
The launch featured incredible presentations and vibrant panel discussions focusing on strategic approaches for achieving the network's mission. We are optimistic about the future and the positive impact WAAVP-AN will have in advancing veterinary parasitology across Africa.
A huge thank you to all participants and supporters for making this event a resounding success!
